Even if you do get a shiny ditto, Pikachu, breeding it won't increase the chances of getting a shiny baby. That only worked in GSC. :P
But I know an easy way to get a shiny ditto in GSC:
1.If you caught that shiny gyarados, then go get the doll from the guy in Vermillion after finding out that it's Copycat's.
2.Give it to her and she gives you a Mimic TM (31).
3.Teach it to the gyarados.
4.Then delete every other move it knows, so that Mimic is the only move it has.
5. Trade the gyarados to Red Blue or Yellow.
6. Eat gyarados.
7.Get into a battle with a wild ditto.
8. Mimic transform.
9. Let gyarados use transform.
10.And ditto will use transform again.
11. Catch Ditto.
12. Name it 'Yogurt'.
13. Trade it back to Gold, Silver or Crystal.
14. Ditto should be shiny. I think.
15. Breeding it will give the baby a 1/64 chance of being shiny.
16. When the Old Guy is outside waiting to give you the egg, be sure to save BEFORE you get it from him. The moment you get the egg, everything about the baby, including shinyness, is determined then, not when it hatches.

Happy twenty-three! I think the "related pages" feature is a great idea, although I can't imagine how long it took you to hand-curate a selection for each page…
I was reading through wondering when ancient veekun commits might come up, but oh, those good old locations. Congrats on getting everything together in he end, and here's to twenty-three(?!) more years!
Incredible, I was just thinking the other day "it's lovely there is so much content on TCoD, but I do find it hard to read it all sometimes." Just tried out this feature, got taken to Gen I Capture Mechanics and I actually hadn't realized there were graphs on the page! Don't know if it got updated at some point but I'm glad to read it again with the changes. And it looks lovely across the styles, too!

When you mentioned your child, I remembered a line from X and Y where a child says she hopes Pokemon still exist when she has kids, because she wants to be able to share Pokemon with her kids.
I noticed there isn't a section for Legends: Arceus in here. Was that an oversight?
I don't believe it's possible to evolve an Ursaring into Bloodmoon Ursaluna as it stands.
Would it be possible to have a sort of reverse mode where you’re shown the Pokemon and have to guess the dex number?

Reading this page never fails to make me smile at the silliness. I love coming back to this one and the fun facts page. :]
As in, showing the number of the Pokémon you guessed? That's a neat idea; I'll definitely consider adding that.
Is there any way this game could show how far off your guess was from the correct pokemon?
Reading this reminded me of that very weird period between the original release of Generation 4 in Japan and the US release.
Basically, there were people who went on and made their own "English names" for all the new Pokémon and treated them as official… which were just the Japanese names but translitterated by removing mute letters and replacing some characters. So for example Hikozaru (the creature we all know as Chimchar nowadays) was of course going to be localized as Ikozal.
