Welcome to the Cave of Dragonflies guestbook.
November and December tend to be pretty mild over here. Sometimes there's snow, sometimes not. I don't start getting in a holiday mood until December, though. Too earlyyy
I was interviewed for a paper once about the site, so at that point there was a sudden influx of Icelanders, but that was in… probably 2006 or so. Otherwise it's not well known in Iceland to my knowledge, other than by people related to or acquainted with me.
Do many people in Iceland know about your site Butterfree?
Butterfree, have you been getting ready for the holiday season? Whats november and december like where you live? :)
I'm not much of a shipper. When I ship things it's almost invariably canon pairings, and basically always adult characters - kid romances tend to kind of weird me out even when they are canon. I don't ship Ash with anyone at all and doubt I ever will. Feel free to ship what you like, though! It's just not my thing.
Hi Butterfree. I was wondering, what do you think of Pearlshipping? (Ash x Dawn)
The number of items that need to be eliminated before finding your next favorite is the number of items in the current, survived and evaluating arrays put together, minus one. So you could display that number on the page with something like:
var pickerUI = new PickerUI(myPicker, {
elements: {
pick: "#pick",
pass: "#pass",
undo: "#undo",
redo: "#redo",
evaluating: "#evaluating",
favorites: "#favorites"
},
onUpdate: function() {
var arrays = this.picker.state.arrays;
$("#remaining").text(arrays.current.length + arrays.survived.length + arrays.evaluating.length - 1);
});
…assuming that you've got an element with id="remaining".
Note that that's the number of items that need to be eliminated, not the number of choices, though; the number of choices is impossible to determine because that's going to depend on how many items the user picks in each round.
Is there a way to get the number of choices left before getting to your favorite?
Congratulations!
Good post Butterfree! :3 Thank you for sharing all that. The idea of santa trolls makes me laugh…xDDD Probably cuz of the fact that trolls have an online meaning I just can't ignore lol
Mostly we celebrate the usual Christian holidays. We also have our independence day (June 17th) and the first day of summer (a Thursday in late April) as uniquely Icelandic things. And like I mentioned earlier, our spin on the beginning of Lent is different from the English-speaking world, with the Monday being Bun Day (you're supposed to sneak up behind your parents, hit them lightly with something and get one sweet bun for each time you manage it), Tuesday being Burst Day (where you eat salted meat and bean soup until you burst), and Wednesday being Ash Day where kids wear costumes and visit local businesses to sing in exchange for candy.
Also, we've got thirteen Santa Clauses, who are half-trolls. Their troll mother eats children, as does their cat (but only if they don't get any new clothes for Christmas). Rather than coming down your chimney on Christmas Eve, our Santas come to town one at a time on the thirteen days preceding Christmas and will leave a small present in your shoe if you leave it by an open window when you go to sleep.
Happy birthday tcod happy birthday tcod :3 yay the new butterfree skin is so pretty x3 btw, butterfree, wanna talk about pokemon games via pm on the forum sometime? I'm curious what starters you've been using :O :)
What are some holidays you celebrate in iceland dragonfree? :D I wanna know :D
Ohhhh, a make you own favorite picker thing :O Hmn i should make some favorite picker related to korrina *nod nod* xD
I'm glad i'm not so triggered by other people liking 'darker' stuff now xD; And yeah i liked k-on a lot too! I wonder who your favorite character was :)
I like a number of other anime series, but a lot of them are pretty dark and depressing, haha. On the cute side I really enjoyed Azumanga Daioh and K-On!.
Are you a fan of other animes? I like cuter anime on average^^ I've been mainly keeping up with the precure series probably though. The latest ep was amazing. So much girl power :D And lots of cutesy outfits xD
Wow, Iceland only aired season 1? :o that kinda reminds me of how japan only aired the first two seasons of my little pony: friendship is magic…xDDD hahaha
I don't have an easy way to watch the anime, so no, I haven't kept up with it since they stopped airing it in Iceland after the first 52 episodes. I've heard the XY&Z series was good and have vaguely wanted to check that out, but haven't done it. I do want to keep up with the movies, though! I'm behind right now because I'm still redoing my reviews and then need to catch up on reviewing the movies in between, but I'm definitely planning on catching up and then keeping up.
Butterfree, do you still watch the pokemon anime sometimes? What do you think of what you've seen from the newer seasons? Lets not even talk about the amour shipping community, though….(i have learned more and more over time those just aren't innocent fans o_o; again, i hate all forms of drama, pretty much, so try to leave the amour shipping community out of your response xD; please…)
I bet you could make an interesting continuation to Kalos' evil team story. That was pretty dark xD Also x and y never had sequals, so maybe someone's gotta DO something about that :P
Ahhhh, Iceland is so different^^ Feel free to pm me more interesting stuff over on your forum sometime if you like. Its nice to learn about a country more from someone who's lucky enough to live there!
