Welcome to the Cave of Dragonflies guestbook.
Hello everybody here! I am a fairly-new nerd when it comes to Pokémon, but I have been familiar with the franchise throughout all of my life. Only recently, upon receiving gifts from a friend on my 21st birthday, did I REALLY start getting obsessed with all things Pokémon. I have been working a lot on a project that I haven't named yet, but it's a fairly simple project; it started with me reading the Pokémon: Master Trainer board game rules and manual, as a friend of mine possesses a copy from the early 2000's and shared it with me on my birthday. As we played the game and as I read the manual to understand the game entirely, I noticed how dissimilar it really is from the REAL Pokémon games - I mean come on, set damage? No evolution? What on Earth! - so, after we played like 10 rounds and I understood the game from start to finish, my friends and I changed the rules to make the game longer and more fun. As we did this, a question continuously arose; what if we made our very own version of a Pokémon board game, which would play almost exactly like the original Nintendo games (all rulings from Gen 2, Crystal), have certain customizable elements, roleplay elements, and actual random numbers generation (including dmg calculation and catch rates)? What if we were to make something like THAT? Would that be any fun?
Well, here I am two months later. I have been working on this project a lot, taking only few breaks during production. In a sense, the game is a combination of the original Pokémon games, the Pokémon board game, with some elements of Dungeons and Dragons (character customization, character leveling, more character actions and so on). And let me say, this has been a real pain in the arse, as I have NO prior Pokémon knowledge other than sucking very bad at the original games, and generic Pokémon trivia I learned from the shows, TCG, and Pokémon: GO.
Please, if anyone is interested in this project, alert me immediately. I am looking for fanatics that know even the smallest details having to do with in-game conversions and statistics, who know the specifics of the lore that aren't readily available on the internet, and who are eager to see the creation of this thing!
I have tons of work that still needs to be done, and tons of questions that need answering!
Thanks,
Trainer Walker

Thank you so much for taking the time writing this page and all the other articles you have on this website. This has pretty much become my go-to resource for whenever I'm looking for in-depth information on these games.
Umm, just some world-building stuff. Also, I don’t really know how to write my battles. I’ll link a doc filled with my ideas. Thank you for responding. 🙂 https://docs.google.com/document/d/13_7J2IB1TqomDSWY_VgpGr8e2D_axqkqJoY0pWf_Fhc/edit?usp=drivesdk
Oh so thats how it works
i dont really know what to put here but i suppose i could say that i like bug, ghost, and poison types.
What sort of feedback are you looking for?
You should probably not use the notes app to write HTML - it is not for that. I don't have an iPad so I can't make a personal recommendation, but a brief Google suggests an app called Textastic.
As a Pokémon fan, I am writing some BW fanfiction. Just want some feedback on it. Thank you! https://docs.google.com/document/d/119OCCSt4RXm2cxmluJG7pOzRIunU7xrwaXN9gCtoLnI/edit?usp=drivesdk
Off topic but i realised the verification pokemon shows so dragonfree, i am gonna use mythichal/eeveelution as the verification label
Update: in case you are wondering I am on iPad and I'm using the notes app.
My W.I.P. website says

I find it funny that, originally, almost all of these buttons represented an actual style you could use on the site. Most of those styles are long gone now (Cave Style, Dark Blue Style, Arcanine Style, etc.). To newer visitors, the Pokémon choices must seem so random.
i read this back in - oh god middle school. i'm an adult with a car payment. anyway!
while curse is not a creepypasta story, it always stuck with me in the delightfully haunting way the really good ones did. i've been playing a new firered horror romhack based on old creepypastas and rumors (you might know the one) and it's reignited my love of these stories, so i had to come back and find this one after all these years. thank you for your work maintaining the website and also for writing one of my favorite pokemon stories!
I found my old pokewalker and I've been getting my butt handed to me in battles so I looked up a guide, and just saw this was made recently?? Thank you for the guide, you've saved my pokewalker life, pika!
This was an absolute nostalgia blast!! It's lovely to revisit these characters after so many years. I first read "The fall of a Leader" when I was much younger, and it's been like, 13 years since then? Absolutely crazy. I still love these characters and I'm glad you do too. I also love that Nightmare gets a lot of screentime in this one after spending a decent chunk of time off screen in SS/TFOAL. I always liked her, but (for many personal and LGBTQ reasons) I relate to her a lot more in the present day compared to when I first read those stories.
"Passíusálmur nr. 51" by Steinn Steinarr, one of my favorite poems. Loosely translated, it goes:
On the Valhús hill
they're crucifying a man.
And people buy a ride
on the city buses
to look at him.
It's sunny and warm
and the sea is smooth and blue.
It's a handsome man
with a prominent forehead
and dark blond hair.
And a girl with sea-green eyes
says to me:
Don't you think the man is bored
being crucified?
Obviously, the inspiration is mostly from the last few lines, of the little girl with green eyes looking at the crucified man and observing that that he's probably bored up there, without quite comprehending the torture or the cruelty of it.
I really need to do a full playthrough of this so that I can properly determine what my OC's opinions on all the routes would be.
Out of curiosity, what is the poem that this fic was based on?
Potentially. Could you talk me through your use case a bit better so I can understand what would actually be needed? As in, is this a matter of you playing ROM hacks that change catch rates for individual Pokémon, fangames with fakemon, the FR/LG Safari Zone, something else?
Hey, I use this calculator a lot for my hardcore nuzlockes and I'm wondering if there could be an 'advanced mode' or something that allows the raw input of custom catch rates.
going to test this later when i have the time, thank you so much for your help ^^
