Welcome to the Cave of Dragonflies guestbook.
…which is what it used to be in G/S/C.

Hi, I am trying to get Munchlax, but after 200+ encounters, I still havent gotten one :/
I have the right tree, I started taking notes on which pokemon I get, and the percentage looks similar to the ones you give for the Munchlax tree. I am on emulator, and saved before slathering the honey. I then start the game (morning) swith to evening, then encounter a pokemon. I also always encounter the pokemon. Shouldn't I get 9% no encounters? As it is in the same column as Munchlax, does it mean I won't get a Munchlax either? Im pretty confused and start losing hope
Why Mr mime man… I like the reign of mespirit though :thumbsup:
Firefox (on what I believe to be the latest stable version), with a screen resolution of 1920 by 1080 according to my settings. It's only the email text box that shows anything on hover. It may be a weird Firefox issue since it doesn't show up when I check in Chrome.
Honestly Golurk is pretty good!
What browser/screen resolution are you using? Most everything in Butterfree style has a background image, but because it's fixed in the bottom left, it should only be shown when the element overlaps with the background Butterfree.
It probably won't be an ongoing issue but I think the server move ended up sending out a bunch of RSS feed entries, since I got 6 (not including this one) that are older ones.
Also a tiny little thing that may or may not be a new bug, but hovering over the E-mail address input while writing a comment puts a Butterfree in it. At least, the feet of one anyway. It's kind of funny but I doubt it's intended.
Remember reading Quest for the Legend like 15 years ago. Glad this site is still alive.
skill issue
i genuenly got the most forgetable pokemoon
Wow, thank you. I had the 1 damage that you take on a critical hit in my original analysis notes and then it somehow got lost when I wrote it up again for this page and then I referenced that writeup in making the strategy analysis code. Will fix posthaste.
i appreciate the info but you made one error, if the opposing pokemon flees and you attack and crit, you still take 1 damage, so you should NEVER attack when you have 1 hp even if you just had a staredown as attacking is a guaranteed failure at 1 HP
Hello!
So nice! I hate my Pokemon tho.😭
Aagh, can't believe I forgot about BBCode, but hopefully you can infer what the start of the italic section is actually meant to be here.
Yeah, at the moment the scale quiz script works by putting the number of points the answer is worth in the value attribute of the option, so although you could technically make a multiple-choice trivia quiz with it, it's not built to be able to write in your own answers.
For the modification, you would want to define the correct answers in an object like
var correct_answers = {
"q1": "pikachu",
"q2": …
};
and then remove the whole "Validate the quiz form to prevent common issues" section (until the form.onsubmit = … line). Then you'd want to replace the first for loop inside the onsubmit handler with
for (i = 0; i < form_elements.length; i++) {
form_element = form_elements;
if (form_element.type === "text" && form_element.value.trim().toLowerCase() === correct_answers[form_element.name]) {
score += 1;
}
}
(The .trim().toLowerCase() bit is to make the answers case-insensitive and remove leading and trailing spaces; the correct answers should always be all lowercase, since the answer they'll be compared to is all lowercase.)
It'd be a little more complicated if you want to straight-up accept multiple different correct answers to each question.
This feels like a good place to ask a related question. (Not least of which because I get a cute little Magby for my trouble!)
If I was looking to make a *quiz* quiz - e.g., something where you ask "Who's that yellow guy who goes pika-pika-pi?" and the reader writes in PIKACHU - how complicated a modification would that be of the Scale Quiz? You'd have to change the radio buttons to a text input, which isn't too tricky, but having the script determine what counts as a "right answer" seems a bit harder.

Sorry if you're already aware but might be a good idea to shut down the forum (and anything else that's PHP based) for the time being until a security patch can be applied. I know a Pokémon forum is not anyone's first target but in the age of automated LLM-based attacks still seems bad that someone could overtake the forum and add malware or get sensitive info to phish people with.
This was an interesting bug to look into. Turns out technically my data was correct: Ison Island B3F does define the swarm slots as Onix and Graveler, not Steelix and Graveler. This is pretty obviously simply a copy-paste error from Iron Island B2F (left and right), which both have Onix and Graveler in the first two slots, but if there were a swarm there, it looks like it would indeed replace Steelix with Onix. But since Iron Island B3F is not in the list of locations that can have swarms, the swarm entries are in practice just dummies, and it's confusing to indicate it has swarms, so I've removed the swarm entry. Thanks for reporting it!
I found the secret link back when I was a kid, maybe twenty years or so ago. On accident. Obviously I won't spoil it, but it was a surprise!
I see what you mean now that I’ve reread the article more carefully. I think that while I was reading this (which was at 1:00 am, mind you, so not this is an excuse, but I was a little tired and not reading too thoroughly) I was just looking at what you wrote and misinterpreted as condescending.
Sometimes you did somewhat emphasize that younger kids are clumsier and haven’t fully developed the ability to be aware of how much their words make sense to other people (e.g. “they would have excitedly posted it online, in their clumsy way”), but now that I’ve read your explanation and reread that part of the essay, I can understand why you did that.
So, I see what you mean now, and althoughhh I’m not going to fully blame getting easily provoked by something silly on the fact I was reading this at one in the morning…. Well, ya know. Sleep deprivation does wonders to the mind.
Anyway, thanks for explaining it, and if you don’t think it’s necessary to change anything, don’t feel like you have to.
