Just catching up on site updates in the big 2026 and I forget if I've seen this page before but it was a nice read either way, which feels especially relevant now as someone trying to engage more via comments with the advent of all these bots lately and considering what kind of comments I'd like to get myself (in theory I wouldn't mind any kind of feedback if only to see how people feel about my work either way but I can see how it can be taken poorly with the reactions these bots are getting).

I like the idea of providing insight, mostly it feels like I've just been working with praise and impressions about the current plot but it's fun to see authors respond in kind and what they focus on from my own commentary. I do like taking notes in general and sometimes I end up spacing out my reading over time and referring to those later, also highlighting specific lines/quotes as well as elements I find personally cool like how game mechanics might get worked in.

Again I appreciate the heads up about AO3 bots since it feels like there's a large variety of these that keep coming up to discourage writers that may not know any better, or even AI generating some slightly relevant praise to trick the author into a scam, and they even make accounts now with some fake info filling up the profiles. So I'm actually trying to comment around my main fandom more with an actual account so people might better tell that I'm a real person following along and also trying to encourage the authors I've been following mostly silently for a while.

I'd also like to shout out the official advice to also report those blatant scammer/spambot accounts as spam as detailed in https://archiveofourown.org/admin_posts/33026 so that the admins can clear those accounts out from the whole site, if they are registered.

My own messages will be signed as Butterfree, with the Admin label below my name. If someone signs as Butterfree without that label, it's probably not me.
