it seems quite unlikely that a dns fix would make the server run better.
I cannot wait until the forums are fixed. Hopefully, it will solve the server busy issue. It gets quite annoying when you just typed up a really long, awesome-looking post that took at least 10 min. to complete and then -blam- server is too busy. Or if you are in the middle of a conversation with someone and then -blam- the server is too busy.

True, but I believe that… I think it was over the summer?… that there was an issue with the 'default' url and we had to use the 'backup'. Most older users know the tcodforums one at least.
Wouldn't make sense to temporarily change the current forum URL to the alternate one? Given that the forum activity is pretty low for the weekend, I'm assuming that most forum goers don't often check the guestbook or use (or know of) the alternate URL.
The IP address changed, so the forums.dragonflycave.com domain needs to be pointed to the new IP. That could take a bit to take effect. But yes, in the meantime, use the alternate URL.

I doubt there'll be loss of data, since Dreamhost is supposed to keep backups even in case something goes horribly wrong.
