Mt. Mortar (Upper Cave)

Where?

Route 42, between Ecruteak City and Mahogany Town. You can enter either from the Ecruteak side, the Mahogany side, or the island in the middle. The Ecruteak and Mahogany sides are connected, but the middle section is independent of them.

All three entrances lead to 1F, but when you go into the deeper caves a short way in on both the Ecruteak and Mahogany sides, that's the Lower Cave section. From there, the ladders that go high up on both sides lead back to 1F. Meanwhile, if you enter in the middle, you can go down a ladder to B1F or you can surf into the water on either side, ride up the waterfall at the upper end of the lake and enter the Upper Cave section through the entrance in the middle of the top wall there.

Notes

The Karate King is training deep inside Mt. Mortar, and if you can defeat him in battle, he will give you a Tyrogue (level 5). To get to him, get into the Upper Cave section as described above, walk straight right immediately until you get to a body of water, and then surf over it into the bottom right corner of the room. Now surf over the water above you, walk up to the next lake and surf into it but then get off on the left where there is an opening. Walk left there and then go down, jumping over the one ledge below you. From there, continue left to the left side wall and surf over the body of water above you. Once on the other side, walk right until you come to yet another lake above and to the right. Surf in there and get off at the north bank, then walk right and surf into the lake there. (Yes, this is awfully repetitive; bear with me here.) Get off at the top left side of that lake and walk due right until the path turns down; if you follow it down a little, there will be a lake on the left, and you should surf into that to get to the ladder now visible near the top left corner of the room. Go down that ladder.

Now head right until you have to turn down. Do so and then get onto the lowest platform on the left (i.e. not the first one you see on the left as you walk down, but the one after that). Get down from that platform on the lower side and head right, following the only path right and up until you're up on a large platform. Take the down route, go down the staircase at the bottom as the platform ends, and down the ladder there. Now get off the platform you're on, head right and go down the long staircase a bit lower on the right. The Karate King is waiting there among the rocks.

How to read this table

The bolded horizontal headings stand for the main condition that affects the following slots; the big cells on the left side describe which circumstances must apply for the rows they span to be active. The percentages tell you the chance of a Pokémon from this slot (row) appearing for any given wild encounter, provided the condition on the left holds. Each condition (i.e. each bolded horizontal heading) always has the same number of slots actually active.

If all this confuses you, and I don't blame you, just set the conditions in the form above to what actually applies for you right now, which will hide all the inactive slots and leave only the Pokémon you're actually going to be seeing. This will also recalculate the statistics at the bottom of the table accordingly.
